Waste Electrical And Electronic Equipment Recycling (WEEE)
At Oceanic Saunas, we’re committed to reducing waste and protecting the environment. As part of our responsibilities under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, we provide safe and responsible options for recycling your old electrical items.
What Is WEEE?
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations are UK and EU laws designed to reduce the environmental impact of electrical and electronic products. They ensure that old or unwanted electrical items are collected, recycled, or disposed of safely preventing hazardous materials from entering landfill and helping to recover valuable resources.
Electrical items covered by WEEE include (but are not limited to):
•Household appliances (large and small)
•IT and telecom equipment
•TVs, audio devices, and electronics
•Tools and garden equipment
•Toys and leisure devices
•Medical and monitoring devices
•Lighting equipment (such as LED and fluorescent lamps)
Look for the crossed out wheeled bin symbol, which indicates that the product must not be disposed of with general household waste.
Free In-Store Take-Back
We offer a free in-store take-back service for old electrical and electronic equipment on a like-for-like basis when you purchase a new equivalent item from us.
How It Works
1. Purchase a new like-for-like electrical item from our website or from our store.
2. Return your old item to us within 28 days of your purchase.
3. We will ensure it is sent to an approved WEEE recycling facility.
Conditions
•The old item must be of similar type and function to the new item purchased.
•Items must be reasonably clean and safe to handle.
•Proof of purchase may be required.
WEEE Collection Service
In addition to our in-store take-back service, Oceanic Saunas offers a convenient home collection service for old electrical and electronic equipment on a like-for-like basis, but please be aware that the new regulations don’t entitle you to free collection of WEEE from your home, there is a delivery charge for this service.
How It Works
1. Purchase a new like-for-like electrical item from our website or from our store.
2. Give us a call on 01902 450550 within 28 days of your purchase and we will arrange for the item/s to be collected from your home address, the delivery is chargeable.
3. We will ensure it is sent to an approved WEEE recycling facility.
