Product Description

The mosaic tiles of our Turkish steam rooms make bathing seem even more decadent. Sit back and breathe in aromatic air while you relax in your own secret sanctuary complete with mood lighting and glistening ceramics. Our Turkish steam rooms are delivered flat-packed to your door as a self-supporting free-standing structure, with quick and easy installation instructions. Each one comes in a standard size which we can reduce to fit your space if needed.

What is a Turkish steam room?

Both our Roman and Turkish steam rooms are made for relaxing, with the humid air warmly engulfing the body. The key difference between the two is that the Roman style has a modern white interior with ergonomic seats. The Turkish style is more traditional and comes with curved benches finished in mosaic tiles. Temperatures reach around 40-60°C, which is much milder than a sauna, but any higher and the humidity would be uncomfortable.

How do you use it?

Simply turn it on and wait for the steam to fill up. Then, once it looks suitably humid in there, relax on one of the benches and allow yourself to be absorbed in the heat.

You can choose your preferred temperature level and decide how much time you want to spend in there. If you’re new to the experience, we recommend starting lower and slowly increasing. Most people will sit inside for about 15 minutes before having a cold shower, resting for 30 minutes, and then repeating the same pattern. You can do this two or three times, so that an average session lasts about two hours.

The health benefits

People often turn to steam rooms to give their mental wellbeing, relaxation, sleep, mindfulness and immune system a boost. Research shows that as people sweat in the hammam-like conditions, it can help to remove toxins from the body and improve skin health, hydration and healing through improved circulation and increased blood flow. The heat can also help to soothe arthritis and improve cardiovascular health, while the humid air clears the sinuses and opens up the lungs to allow for easier breathing.

If you are intending to use a steam room for a health condition, we recommend you consult your GP first. Please also be mindful that there are some risks associated with using a steam room, so you should make sure to stay hydrated and avoid drinking alcohol.

Setting up your steam room

All of our steam rooms come flat-packed with assembly instructions. Unless you’re a dab hand at DIY, we suggest you choose a local fitter to install it. If you can’t find anyone local, we can recommend someone who is familiar with our products.

You can modify the size of our Turkish steam rooms at home following our instructions. The minimum height depends on the model, but typically without floor or walls it’s around 2,000mm. Alternatively, we can create a custom size for you at an extra cost. Please contact our sales team for more details.

The steam generator is supplied as part of the kit and will need to be fitted by a qualified plumber and electrician. It will require hardwiring to a mains supply via an all pole isolator (not a 13amp plug). The generator needs to be installed outside the steam room and the maximum length of copper pipe that can be fitted to between the generator and the steam room is 10m.

The installation checklist
Before you think about purchasing one of our saunas, you need to check that you can provide the following things:

A level floor
A connection to a cold water supply for the steam generator (max 1 bar pressure) and a waste pipe to drain into. Please see our steam generator installation manual for more details.
Mix and match the bits you love
Now for the fun bit. We provide ready-to-go parts in different sizes so that it’s super easy to build your dream steam room. Simply customise how you want it to look, from the room layout to the accessories, and we’ll sort the rest.
Floor and drain
Start by planning the layout for your steam room by choosing how many people you want to have in it, from two to 8.

All of our steam rooms can be supplied with or without a built-in floor. A built-in tiled floor includes a drain and flexible pipe to a drain for waste located anywhere underneath or around the steam room below floor level. If you want a built-in floor there will be a step up into the room of 130mm and the floor needs to be level. For those preparing their own wetroom floor, it can be tiled before or after the room is fitted.

If you’d prefer to keep the floor level flush with the floor outside of the steam room, choose a steam room without the built-in floor. Instead, you’ll need to prepare a suitable wet room floor that slopes down towards a drain in the correct position, then install the steam room on top.

Tiles

All of our steam rooms are available with or without tiles. You can choose different tiles for different areas, including: the bench, wall, ceiling and floor (if you’ve chosen a built-in floor) and they all come with adhesive and grout.

We have four different styles of tiles:

Standard mosaic: glass and straight-edge iridescent mosaic tiles.
Deluxe mosaic: natural stone and soft-edge iridescent tiles.
Shell mosaic: natural shell mosaic in various colour
Large format: Faux marble or cream option, 600x600mm. Available for use on walls only.
Glass doors
Most of our steam room styles come with two different styles of door. Either a 6mm thick glass door, which has a frame or a full wall of glass with a 10mm thick glass door in the centre, which comes without a frame. Some are available with both front and side walls glazed. All door fixings are in a chrome finish.

Steam generator

Each steam room comes with a generator to fit, as well as a digital control system, steam inlet nozzle and glass guard. If you fancy, you can upgrade to a touchscreen keypad for extra convenience.

For correct ventilation, we provide a 4-inch vent with a flexible duct which needs to be fitted to an outside wall if possible. Ventilation is also created naturally through an air gap beneath the door.

Lighting

As standard, our steam rooms come with IP65-rated low-voltage spotlights which create a clean white light. Once the cabin has filled up with steam the light will have a subdued and relaxing glow.

For additional mood lighting, we can also provide fibre optic kits with twinkle and colour change effects. They require a minimum clearance of 300mm above the steam room for installation. We also have a linear LED kit with a bullnose bench type.

Concealed Shower Kit

Why not add some massage therapy to your me-time with our range of water accessories. Our Concealed Shower Kit includes a rain shower, a hand-held shower and thermostatic controls, which are built into the wall of the steam room to finish flush with the tiles.

Aromas

The beauty of a steam room is that you can add invigorating fragrances to the steam to soothe your senses and clear your head. You can do this with the Oceanic Fragrance Pump, which automatically releases perfumed concentrate into the steam. You can control the pump inside the steam room at the touch of a button.

Choose from an array of fragrances to suit your mood, including eucalyptus, lavender, orange and rosemary.

Water softener

Our water softener can help prolong the life of your generator. It’s easy to use and means that you won’t have to descale your steam room as often. It comes with a free test kit and chart to let you know how often you need to fill it up with salt.

Speakers

Want to add in a few more gadgets? If you fancy listening to some music while you kick back, we can provide waterproof bluetooth speakers that can be fitted into the ceiling panels.
